Is it possible to order from US and have it delivered? It is much cheaper there but not sure how postage costs impact something so heavy?
Crazy this might sound at first - but after an experiment, this is indeed possible in theory.
Taking the example of, say, a 24cm Round French Oven.
In Hong Kong, the original price is HK$4,028. If you pick it up from the store (i.e. no delivery charges) and make use of the HK$900 discount above - the current HK price is HK$3,128.
In the US, the original price is US$260. Adding shipping & handling and US sales tax, the price is approximately US$290. Based on the weight and size, the shipping cost at MyUS.com starts at U$60 (with a premium membership). So the final US price adds up to around US$350.
In this example, by ordering from the US website, you save about HK$400. Unfortunately, this is a theory that we have never tested out, and we would like to invite anyone who has tried it to share their personal experience.
However, if you are travelling and have some extra luggage allowance, do go visit the Le Creuset outlet stores, such as:
- Japan (including Rinku Premium Outlets at Osaka) http://www.premiumoutlets.co.jp/en/
- UK (including Bicester Village in Oxfordshire)
Great thanks. myUS.com is great for electronics good to know it should also work for LC.
